Crystal Bao is an award-winning NYC illustrator who's lived in London and Shanghai. Inspired by her multicultural background, she creates vibrant, concept-driven imagery infused with bold color and surreal storytelling. Through her work, she explores identity, human connection, and the quiet absurdities of everyday life, transforming ordinary moments into imaginative, narrative-rich worlds. Crystal has collaborated with clients including Live Nation, Adobe, the Society of Illustrators, and Luminocity Festival. Working across editorial, publishing, advertising, entertainment, and game art, she creates visually striking work that balances bold concepts with immersive storytelling. Passionate about community and social impact, she believes illustration has the power to spark curiosity, reveal the extraordinary in everyday life, and transform ordinary moments into stories people remember. Outside the studio, she enjoys playing piano, watching films, and figure skating.
